Box-Office Triumphs Of The Year

The Year 1950 has been an extraordinary year  for Hindi
film industry  and has proved most successful year to be
most successful year for Hindi film industry since 1913.
At about nearly a total production number of 50 films have proved to be successful at box-office. However, In
terms of box-office point of view, Raj Kapoor's Barsaat has proved to be the most triumphant, profitable and popular picture of 1950. The film has created new all-time records of roaring success beating  phenomenal
box-office record grossers like " Andaz " and " Kismet ".
Barsaat has done whooping business all over and at about 3, 34 , 56 , 567 people have watched the film. The film is considered as the biggest hit of Hindi film history. Barsaat proved to be big craze among local film-goers though the film being a failure in terms of artistic point of view and despite this it smashed all the previous box-office records and established new ones records. Apart from Barsaat there was Babul, Mahal, Samadhi and Har Har Mahadev, all these four have created some sort of new records in many centres of the country. No Hindi films so far has collected as huge gross as Naushad's sensational hit Babul. Babul is still shattering records in Bombay, Lahore, Karachi, Delhi, C.I., C.P. Berar, Calcutta, Lucknow and all other centres and it  is expected to be a roaring success all-over the country  like " Barsaat ",    "Andaz " and " Kismet." Samadhi has hit in a very big way especially in northern circuits where it performed exceedingly well. The film also proved to be extraordina- rily success all over the country. Mahal is still drawing immense crowd in Bombay and all other important centres. Har Har Mahadev has completed 100 weeks run in Calcutta and is silver Jubilee and radium jubilee in all other centres. Apart from these very highly successful triumphs , the other major box-office hits which drew immense crowds during their jubilee run were Hamara Ghar, Sabak, Nishaan, Dulari, Patanga, Dahej, Jogan, Rakhi, Dastan, Ankhen, Hamari Beti, Ek Thi Larki, 
 Nirdosh,Sheesh Mahal, Anmol Rattan, Arzoo, Adhi Raat, Sargam, Raj Mukut, Khilari, Be Qasoor, Bijli, Putli, Pahela Admi, Ganesh Mahima, Nazare , Jio Raja, Bhai Behen, Garib and Magroor. And even films like Meena Bazaar, Bhisma Pratigya, Bablu, Nili, Jeet, La Jawab, Shair, Afsar, Ajit, Nishana, Roomal, Kashmir Hamara Hai, Mazdoor, Maang and Shaadi Ke Baad have also enjoyed fairly successful run at the box-office. More recently released Jammashtami is running to crowded house at eight theaters which confirms its box-office success and even Hanste Ansoo is also performing very well and is expected to be a good box-office hit. 

But in terms of artistic point of view the greatest picture of the year is undoubtedly Naushad's Babul. From music to story to acting to direction--- it is all jn one package and probably one of the greatest classic of all-time made in Hindi film industry and the film is also performing extraordinarily well at the box-office too. The critics has applauded the film with all the laurels . 

The year has proved to be highly successful for our top runk star Ashok Kumar whose four films - Mahal, Samadhi, Adhi Raat and Khilari have provided to be highly successful hit at the box-office. Dilip Kumar, the most popular star of Indian films, has three releases in 1950 and all the three releases Babul, Jogan and Arzoo have proved to box-office sensation. The year has also proved to very much successful for Raj Kapoor whose popularity is growing day by day.  Barsaat, Dastan and Sargam have proved to be very productive at the box-office. The current heartthrob Madbubala scored big personal triumphs in Mahal, Dulari and Be Qasoor. Nargis, the number one leading lady of Hindi films scored in a very big way in Barsaat, Babul, Jogan and Adhi Raat --- all three sensational hits of the year. Dastaan and Khilari have proved to very successful for ever popular Suraiya. Karan Dewan scored as many as four jubilee hits --- Dahej, Rakhi, Anmol Rattan and Sabak ---- all these films are among most successful hit of the year. 

The most successful star of the year among the male is Ashok Kumar followed by Raj Kapoor,Dilip Kumar and Karan Dewan. And among the female it was undoubtedly the year of Nargis slightly followed by Madhubala and Suraiya. 

The box-office standing of stars today is --- Dilip Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Nargis, Karan Dewan, Suraiya, Raj Kapoor, Madhubala, Nalini Jaywant and Dev Anand --- in that order of box-office and popularity.
