HSSH is 1999's Biggest Success Story.
This Diwali, all eyes were on the lone release of the festive season, the Rajshri's Hum Saath-Saath Hain, and why not? Director Sooraj Barjatya had created box-office history with his Record hits Maine Pyar Kiya and Hum Aapke Hain Koun. So expectations were bound to be high
The Barjatyas had opened Hum Aapke Hain Koun with just 30 prints, initially, increasing the tally to 600 gradually. But in the case of Hum Saath-Saath Hain, they started off with a record number of prints, 405 ,to better tackle the menace of Piracy. Of these 121 were released in the overseas terri- tory alone, and an identical number in Mumbai. Thanks to number of prints , it opened to record response of 95% in Mumbai and according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the first day response of HSSH in Mumbai has shattered all records .The response of HSSH in Overseas, Rajasthan, Nizam, Bihar, C.P. Berar, C.I., Bengal and in some parts of Punjab was unprecedented though it has not lived up to it's potential in the Delhi-U.P. belt. As per the reports of Trade Guide, it has shattered the opening day records of David Dhawan's Biwi No.1 in all the major circuits except In Delhi-U.P. (particularly Uttar Pradesh) and in some parts of East Punjab. Collections were affected in some places due to the pre diwali.
With Hum Saath-Saath Hain , Sooraj Barjatya's has struck gold for the third time in a row. Contrary to media reports questioning the credibility of the film, ' Hum Saath-Saath Hain ' is well on its way to become the biggest hit of the year .
Like trade figures do not surprise us all. Rajshri films with Salman Khan has always been hot cake. Though there are some jealous rivals who are spreading rumors that it is not doing well but if the film had not been accepted, the business would have not have doubled after Diwali. It is breaking all records in overseas and it's business in India is likely to be in the range of last year's blockbuster Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. " It is definitely the biggest hit of the year ", Nahata said.
Taran Adarsh, editor of Trade Guide, said, " It's a super duper hit and will definitely turn out to be the biggest success story of the year. I really don't understand why the film took not-so-good start in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Maybe the reason was the music of film was not that popular. But even in the case of HAHK, the music become a hit after the film was released. The same will be true for HSSH. And the fifth day collection of the film is certainly better than the record collections of that first day.
Meanwhile the film ,in it's first three days of release, grossed $651,975 with 59 prints at per the screen average of $11,043 which is higher than the any film in the chart including the top hollywood studio films.
In the UK, the film was already in top 10 in the first three days. The trend further seems to indicate that both in the UK and US the film is likely to climb the charts in the coming weeks and it is likely to sustain the tempo longer than then Ghai's Taal.
