The Year 1950 has been extraordinary for Hindi Film industry. At about as many as 50 production films have proved to be successful at the box-office. 1950 has been the most successful film year in the history of Hindi Films since 1913. However, In terms of box-office point of view, The major triumphant of the year has been Raj Kapoor's Barsaat, which has created all-time records of roaring success beating phenomenal hits like " Andaz " and " Kismet ". Barsaat has don whooping business and round 3, 22, 34,456 people have watched the film and it is the biggest box-office triumph of all-time . Babul, Mahal, Samadhi and Har Har Mahadev are the other four films which have created sort of new records in many centres and are still running to crowded houses all over. No hindi film so far has collected as huge gross as Naushad's Babul during their first twelve weeks. Babul is expected to be sensational box-office hit on the line of "Barsaat ", " Andaz ", and " Kismet ". Samadhi hit in a very big way in northern circuits . Mahal is still drawing immense crowds in Bombay and other important centres. Har Har Mahadev has completed 100 weeks run at Calcutta and is silver or radium jubilee at the most of the centres.
The other major box-office triumphant which drew immense crowds during their jubilee run have been Hamara Ghar, Patanga, Dulari, Sabak, Dahej, Rakhi, Jogan, Dastan, Ankhen, Hamari Beti, Ek Thi Larki, Nirdosh, Nishaan, Sheesh Mahal, Anmol Rattan, Arzoo, Adhi Raat, Sargam, Raj Mukut, Be Qasoor, Bijli, Putli, Pahela Aadmi, Ganesh Mahima , Khilari , Nazare, Jio Raja, Bhai Behen and Magroor.
Apart from these triumphs even films like Meena Bazaar, Bablu, Bhisma Pratigya,Nili, Jeet, La Jawab, Shair, Afsar, Ajit, Nishana,Roomal , Kashmir Hamara Hai, Maang ,Manzoor ,Shaadi Ki Raat have also enjoyed fairly successful run at the box-office.
More recently released Jammashtami is running to crowded house at eight theaters which confirms it's box office success and Hanste Ansoo too is performing well at the box-office and there are chances of it proving a good box-office hit.
The year has proved very successful for our top runk star Ashok Kumar whose Mahal, Samadhi, Kilari and Adhi Raat have proved very successful at t he box-office. Dilip Kumar, the most popular star of hindi cinema has three releases and all three Babul, Jogan and Arzoo have been major triumphs at the box-office. The year has also proved very much successful for Raj Kapoor ,who is reaching new heights of popularity day bay by day. Barsaat, Dastaan and Sargam have proved box-office hits for him. The current heartthrob Madhubala has box-office hits in Mahal, Dulari and Be Qasoor . Nargis, the current number one box-office heroine scored in a very big way in Barsaat, Babul, Jogan and Adhi Raat --- all three sensational hits of the year. Dastan and Khilari have proved to be very successful for the ever popular Suraiya.
The box-office star standing today is Dilip Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Nargis, Suraiya, Raj Kapoor, Karan Deewan, Madhubala, Nalini Jaywant and Dev Anand --- in that order.

Dharmendra was born as Dharam Singh Deol in Nasrali, a village in Ludhiana district, Punjab on 8 December 1935 to Kewal Kishan Singh Deol and Satwant Kaur into a Jat Sikh family.His ancestral village is Dangon, near Pakhowal Tehsil Raikot, Ludhiana. Dharmendra was the winner of Filmfare magazine's nationally organised new talent award and went to Mumbai from Punjab, to work in the movie promised, being the award winner, but the movie was never made.He later made his debut with Arjun Hingorani's Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere in 1960. The film was below average . He later appeared as a second lead in Shammi Kapoor's Boy Friend. He tasted success with Shola Aur Shabnam and gave a bonafide hit Anpadh in 1962.
